Elara Apartments FAQ

What is your pet policy?

Elara welcomes furry creatures with open arms and wagging tails. However, we require a $500 pet deposit and $50 pet rent per pet per month. We understand that pets are family members and want them to feel at home like you. Our policy ensures that your furry friend has a safe and healthy environment. We believe in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene for all our residents. Our staff is always ready to assist you with pet-related questions or concerns. So, bring your fluffy companions along and let them experience our cozy abode.

Can I have shelves, curtains, posters, etc.?

As you’re setting up your new living space, it’s natural to want to add your touch to the room with personal items such as shelves, curtains, and posters. However, it’s essential to remember that if you’re renting a unit, there may be requirements for returning the space to its original condition upon moving out. This means that any modifications or additions made to the room must be able to be removed without causing damage or leaving any traces behind. While it may seem like a hassle, adhering to these guidelines can help you avoid hefty charges on your security deposit and ensure a smooth transition out of the unit when the time comes.

Can I paint my walls?

A fresh coat of paint can work wonders when making your rental unit feel like home. However, it’s important to remember your lease agreement’s terms. If the lease stipulates that your apartment must be returned to its original condition upon move out, including the walls, then painting may not be an option. Failure to comply with this requirement could result in charges being deducted from your security deposit. Fortunately, there are other ways to make your space feel like your own, such as adding decorative accents or investing in removable wallpaper. Double-check the lease agreement before making any permanent changes to ensure a smooth move-out process.

What does the application and leasing process look like?

The application and leasing process can feel overwhelming when renting a new apartment. However, it doesn’t have to be that way! You must meet the income requirements to get started, which usually involves making three times the monthly rent. At Elara, we want to check your background and credit score. Once everything checks out, the approval process can take 2-7 days. It may seem like a long time, but securing a cozy new home is worth the wait.

Do you require renter’s insurance?

As a resident, protecting yourself and your belongings with renter’s insurance is essential. In a fire, theft, or other unexpected circumstance, renter’s insurance can help reimburse you for lost or damaged items and offer liability coverage if someone is injured on your rental property. It’s a small investment that can provide peace of mind and protection for your belongings and financial well-being. So, if you’re a renter, don’t overlook the importance of renter’s insurance.

When/How should I set up my utilities?

Setting up utilities is an essential and often tedious task that can sometimes be overlooked in moving. However, ensuring that your gas, electric, water, sewer, and trash are all set up and ready to go before you move in is crucial. So, when and how should you go about setting up your utilities? The process is simple- once you receive approval, you can set up your gas and electric with SoCal Gas & LADWP. As for water, sewer, and trash, we’ve got you covered- we’ll set those up on our end and bill you directly on the portal. How do I pay rent?

Paying rent can be daunting, but luckily, there are a few options to make the process a little bit smoother. We offer an online resident portal, which allows you to pay your rent with just a few clicks of a button. This option is excellent for those who love convenience and prefer to do everything digitally. However, if you choose to use a personal check, that option is still available as well–just make sure you get it in between the 1st and 3rd of the month. Don’t worry if you miss that deadline; you can still pay with a cashier’s check. Just be sure to keep in mind that money orders are not accepted, so plan accordingly. No matter which option you choose, paying rent has never been easier!
